The SCRD Board recently voted to move the planned Coopers Green Hall to Connor Park. (SCRD Board meeting, March 23).

Did anyone ask the residents living near Connor Park if they wanted a busy Community Hall in their area? No.

Does SCRD have a Park Management Plan for this type of building and these changes to Connor Park? No.

Has there been consultation with the wider Welcome Woods community to see if they want a local hall, especially with many of these services being already available at the Halfmoon Bay Community School?  No.

Is this ALR-designated land suitable for a revenue-producing building of this type? No.

Have other environmental considerations (like the impact of cutting down dozens of mature trees) been fully accounted for? No.

Can building a hall on unserviced, raw land be more economical than replacing the existing hall at Coopers Green? No.

Has the local Connor Park community spent the last 10 years planning, fundraising and working toward a hall in their neighborhood? No.

SCRD Board: Please stop this costly, environmentally reckless and ill-conceived plan now!
