As a lifetime resident of Gibsons and the Sunshine Coast, I was awestruck when a number of months ago “The Town” decided to “temporarily” close off the quickest and shortest access point to Gower Point Road from Glasford Road in lower Gibsons. The alternate access option for our area was to access Gower Point Road using Dogwood Road but because of the extremely rough and broken condition of it our next alternate was to use Blain Lane. Now, over the last week, “The Town” has also closed this road off with no signs or explanation and we are having to access Gower Point Road at Dougal Park.

I have not noticed an over-abundance of vehicles speeding or driving recklessly in the area at all and with the cost of (and shortages of) fuel these days, we should all be trying to use the shortest routes possible. These routing changes are not helping. So, could someone from the town please explain to myself and other taxpayers that live in this are why they are closing off roads in our area?
