Letters: Concern with trail cams

'Knowing that “anyone” can set these up, and now, as in this case, publicize them, is for me very unsettling.'

I applaud Mary Beth Pongrac for fulfilling her passion by retiring on our wonderful Sunshine Coast. I do have a problem with her trail cams though. Knowing that “anyone” can set these up, and now, as in this case, publicize them, is for me very unsettling.

Our forests are magical, a sacred haven from the world around us. The public has a right to use our remaining forests as a calming and soul nurturing area. Bring your camera, be lucky enough to get a great photo, but what Ms. Prognac is doing is surveillance, not only of animals, but humans as well. I’m sure Ms. Pongrac’s intentions are well meaning, however, I personally think this oversteps, on so many levels.
