At the end of May, the federal government will release draft regulations for a long-promised emissions cap on fossil fuels — a policy that, if done right, could finally put Canada on track to hit its climate targets. But the oil and gas industry, responsible for the biggest share of carbon emissions in Canada, is lobbying hard to water this legislation down. The latest heat wave and wildfires are once again showing us what will happen if we continue in our apathy. On Thursday, May 25, people from the Sunshine Coast will be joining other concerned citizens from our riding for a National Day of Action at our MPs office, with dozens of similar events being held across the country. Let your local Member of Parliament know how you feel about a bold emissions cap now.
