Letter: It's still the Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre

'With more than 1,600 active members and a low $40 yearly membership fee, come and enjoy all the activities at Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre, 5604 Trail Ave.'

Editor:

Unfortunately, in your front page article of the Friday, Aug. 16 edition (“Public forum planned to address crime”), there was a factual error. It was stated that the meeting being discussed would be held at “Sechelt Activity Centre, formerly known as the Seniors Centre.” This statement is incorrect. The name is and will remain as “Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre.” The confusion may have arisen because our bylaws allow members of any age, however with the limitation that at least 50 per cent of the membership must be at least 50 years of age and that only they can vote at any of our membership meetings. It is important to have younger members to allow intergenerational socialization with all of its benefits.

With more than 1,600 active members and a low $40 yearly membership fee, come and enjoy all the activities at Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre, 5604 Trail Ave.
