When we have to hire private security to patrol our village core; the question I have to ask is it time to think about having our own District Police Service like so many other British Columbia small and large towns? The current annual expense for Sechelt policing is a significant portion of the district’s budget. I think Mayor and Council need to ask themselves the obvious question: Just what are we getting for that expenditure of taxpayer dollars when we have to hire private security?
