Upon reading in the Coast Reporter that the Havies development project has received approval to proceed, in spite of public concerns and formal objections from the Wilson Creek-Davis Bay-Selma Park Community Association I am moved to question the sincerity of our local political leaders when they claim to be listening to their constituents.
Callers who contacted the head planner for this project with questions and concerns were told that this development had a long way to go before permits could be issued and that a public meeting would take place prior to any approvals being given.
The local community association held several meetings to receive area resident input and voiced these concerns in written form and during meetings with municipal leaders.
Given the many outstanding issues related to this development and the extent of upset it is causing to residents in the community it will directly affect, it would seem an appropriate course of action to hold at least one public meeting in order to address issues and hear the wishes of the people who are supposed to be represented by our political leaders.
Such disregard for public input on developments like the Havies makes one wonder who our elected officials are working for and whose interests they truly represent.
