Letter: Dogged rules

'Responsible pet owners keep their dogs clean and use modern medicines to kill ticks and fleas. They discourage excess barking and leave their dogs with friends when they need to be out. Owners are always responsible to clean up after their dogs if they have an accident in public spaces. There are volunteers that will walk dogs for seniors.'

The dog issue (“Grateful for no pets,” Feb. 10) is an example of every rule is created because someone did something discourteous.

Responsible pet owners keep their dogs clean and use modern medicines to kill ticks and fleas. They discourage excess barking and leave their dogs with friends when they need to be out. Owners are always responsible to clean up after their dogs if they have an accident in public spaces. There are volunteers that will walk dogs for seniors.

I would be the last person to say that everyone should have a dog. The SPCA tries to be careful about who they give their dogs to and has an age limit over which they will not give someone an animal. I do understand, though, some people think that every rule is there to be broken. For that, there is no solution.
