Around June of last year, the District of Sechelt started a work task of reviewing the official community plan (OCP) by firstly hiring Susan Stratis to be the consultant to spearhead the project. Shortly after, an OCP review advisory committee was formed and has been meeting on a regular basis since July 7.

The purpose has been to implement the neighbourhood plans and the Vision Plan into the current OCP in order to form a concise and comprehensive document that will foresee the community's vision for the next 15 to 20 years. It has been challenging at times, but the first draft is scheduled for public input by mid-June.

Last month there were two open houses for public consultation. Your viewpoints are necessary to help bring this revised OCP to its optimum potential. Your feedback will help to create a healthy environment, a strong economy and a desired sustainable growth.

What does your neighbourhood need? What kind of changes would you like to see? What kind of character style would be most appealing for your area? What sort of modification or additions do you think would help to retain it as a vibrant community for the next generation?
