Somewhat belatedly I offer my heartfelt thanks to the members of the Gibsons volunteer Coast Guard for their kind assistance to me and my crew.

The Coast Guard rescued us on July 7 in Shoal Channel one or two miles from Gibsons. We had lost our engine off the White Islets during a huge rainstorm in big seas, headwinds and lashing rain. We were in contact with the Coast Guard by cell phone and they came immediately to our rescue and towed us into a safe haven in Gibsons Marina. The following morning, after drying out for the night at the Ritz and a new battery, we made our way into North Vancouver to paint our hull on the dry at the Mosquito Creek Marina.
