Agree with transit tips

Thank you Maureen Brown, for your excellent letter (Tips for transit, ferries, Coast Reporter, Aug. 7). I too, have been trying to get the attention of "the powers that be" on this important issue.

Thank you Maureen Brown, for your excellent letter (Tips for transit, ferries, Coast Reporter, Aug. 7).

I too, have been trying to get the attention of "the powers that be" on this important issue.

More than a year ago, I wrote to the Minister of Transport, the head of B.C. Ferries and TransLink bus services and copied it to Coast Reporter, explaining how difficult it is to obtain a bus pass when you are at the Horseshoe Bay terminal. Nobody seems to know or care about this.

I inquired whether they might be sold at the same place onboard where the Malaspina bus tickets are available. Wouldn't that be logical? The answer was no. I asked in the gift shop whether we could buy them there. The answer was no. I asked at the ticket booth in the terminal whether we could buy them there. The answer was no.

I received the standard form answers thanking me for bringing this matter to their attention, but basically the issue is dead in the water because, of course, most people use cars, and that is much more profitable than offering mere "customer service" to foot passengers like ourselves.

There needs to be more incentives to encourage folks to park cars and use public bus services.

I hope that MLA Nicholas Simons will be able to be our knight in shining armour!
