Beachcomber Coffee Company Inc. is up for a Small Business BC Award, having placed in the top 10 semifinalists from among 699 nominated companies across B.C.
The Gibsons company had to get the most votes for its nomination between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30 to make the semifinals in the Premier People’s Choice Award category.
“We have a lot of support and fans on the Sunshine Coast and a lot of people rallied behind us during the two-month voting process,” said Martin DesRosiers, of Beachcomber Coffee, noting the support from the community “feels great.”
“Small Business BC hasn’t shared any voting numbers but they announce the top five in January so we will see what happens!”
In order to make the top five, DesRosiers will have to submit a detailed application outlining why Beach-comber Coffee deserves to win the award. The top five will be announced on Jan. 23 and the winners will be named Feb. 23.
The Premier People’s Choice Award is presented by the government of B.C. and is meant to recognize a small business “that can show that their community thinks they go above and beyond.”
DesRosiers said he’s pleased to have made it to this stage of the competition and he’s hopeful Beachcomber Coffee will ultimately win the Premier People’s Choice Award.
