Sunshine Coast swimmers race personal bests at regional championships

Here's how it went at the Lower Mainland Regional Championships in Richmond

Six members of the Chinook Swim Club attended Lower Mainland Regional Championships in Richmond on Feb. 5 and 6.

The  Chinook Swim Club attended Lower Mainland Regional Championships in Richmond on Feb. 5 and 6.  This was a championship swim meet where some of the fastest swimmers in their category came together to race. Swimmers who attended the meet were Nolan Alexander Mitchell, Frances Allen, Keira Hynd, Tove Jenkins, Rory Scott and Robert Van Luven. All swimmers performed personal bests in their events, reflecting their dedication to the sport. Some highlights and top eight placings from the meet were as follows:

Nolan Alexander Mitchelle  

6th in 100 breast 1:22.75 

Frances Allen  

3rd in 100 Breast 1:26.90.  (Divisional Time) 

8th in 200 Freestyle 2:31.53 

4th in 200 IM 2:44.61 (Divisional Time) 

5th in 200 Breast 3:10.20 (Divisional Time)

Keira Hynd  

3rd  in 50 Backstroke 35.23 (Divisional Time) 

4th in 200 Backstroke 2:41.81 (Divisional Time) 

4th in 50 Free 31.53 (Divisional Time) 

6th in 50 Fly 35.22 (Divisonal Time) 

5th in 100 Backstroke 1:16.25 (Divisional Time) 

Tove Jenkins got the most improved award for the team taking off 45 cumulative seconds in her events. Way to go Tove! 

Rory Scott  

1st in 50 Backstroke 30.97 (Divisional Time) 

1st in 800 free 9:18.92 (Divisional Time) 

4th in 100 free 58.23 (Divisional Time) 

3rd in 400 free 4:32.68 (Divisional Time) 

Robert Van Luven 

3rd in 50 backstroke 31.26 (Divisional Time) 

4th in 100 backstroke 1:09.48 

5th in 200 Backstroke 2:29.89 

The Chinook Swim Club would like to wish everyone luck at the upcoming Divisional Championship Competition at the Vancouver Aquatic Center on Feb. 25 to 27.
