This past Sunday saw the Sunshine Coast Slo-Pitch League close out the season with a great day of playoff ball. The first round was played during the week and several teams moved on to Sunday’s final.
The semi-final of the C division had Wrecks beating Hammerheads 14-12. The B division had two semi-finals: Hurricanes beat Axemen 17-4; then in a thrilling extra inning game, Big What beat Warriors 15-14. The A Division semi-final saw The Big Deals beat Raiders 9-7 in another close game.
Later in the day Surge decisively beat Wrecks 15-2 in the C division final. Surge and Wrecks both had great years, finishing higher in the standings than in previous years.
The B division final pitted season-long rivals Hurricanes and Big What against each other. Hurricanes led from start to finish, beating Big What 10-4, taking their first B division championship.
The premier game of the day was the A final, which saw another pair of fierce rivals, Fujis and The Big Deals, face off for the championship. The game was a little one-sided, but there were some great plays and big hits by both teams. In the end Fujis took the title yet again, beating The Big Deals 7-1.
It was another great year for the biggest sports league on the Coast with plenty of fun and good times had by all.
