Catherine Cooper, as a member of the 50 Women Initiative, held a golf tournament to raise funds for the Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS) on July 7 at Blue Ocean Golf Course.
A full complement of 72 entrants was achieved. Nine “hole sponsors” stepped forward with donations. There was a silent auction, raffle prizes, toonie tosses, a putting contest and mulligan sales all to raise funds. More than $10000 worth of prize donations was received from the amazing merchants and individuals of the Sunshine Coast in their extreme generosity to make this event a success. Also, substantial time and effort was made by the Coaster Quilting group to produce 80 tee bags that were filled and given to attendees.
A massive thank you to all donors, volunteers and participants. “It takes a village” and the entire coast came through for this event. It is truly inspirational how a relatively small community known, as the Sunshine Coast, can join together and show such a collectively huge heart. Small feats can make big dreams come true. The photo of all in attendance is a sampling of how many women and children could possibly be housed in the new SCCS building.
As was stated August 21st 1939, there really is “No Place Like Home!”
