The local equestrian club has a busy summer coming up and several spectating opportunities.

The Sunshine Coast Equestrian Club (SCEC) is gearing up for an action-packed summer, filled with events that promise to delight both equestrian enthusiasts and families alike.

The highlight of SCEC’s summer calendar is their “Burgers and Barrels” event series, which kicked off with great success this past Wednesday. The next Burger and Barrels events are scheduled for July 17 and the grand finale of the summer season will be the Ted Bowe Memorial on Aug. 21.

The Sunshine Coast Equestrian Club aims to foster a strong equine community and provide a welcoming space for the public to enjoy these events free of charge.

For those interested in getting involved beyond spectating, SCEC is collaborating with the Horse Council of BC to host a horse habituation clinic. Scheduled for Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sunshine Coast Equestrian Club Community Arena (1436 Largo Road,

Roberts Creek). These clinics aim to educate the public on safe interactions with horses encountered on trails.

We invite hikers, dog walkers, mountain bikers, ATV riders, and motorbike enthusiasts to participate in our clinics, highlighting the importance of mutual understanding between trail users and horses.

Volunteers are crucial to the success of these clinics, with SCEC seeking participants for one-hour blocks throughout the day.

SCEC Summer Fair Fundraiser is scheduled for July 19, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Banditry Cider. This festive occasion will feature a plethora of attractions including cotton candy, bouncy castles, food vendors offering delicious treats, and much more. It’s set to be a fun-filled day for the entire family.

The Sunshine Coast Equestrian Club looks forward to welcoming both familiar faces and newcomers alike to celebrate the joy of equestrian sports and community spirit this summer.
