Winners in the open class of the Oct. 30 “Attack of Danger Bay” longboard races celebrate with a salute to the spectators. At the top and centre on the straw bale podium was Danger Dane Hanna, winning his third such championship in this year’s twentieth anniversary for the event. He is flanked by second place finisher Troy Grenier and Dexter Manning who came in third. Organizers limited on-site spectators due to COVID-19 protocols and provided a live stream of the event on YouTube. Normally hosted in conjunction with Pender Harbour’s May Day festivities, the 2021 race edition attracted 32 competitors.
