Between Aug. 22 and 23, thieves gained access to a building in the 5600 block of Creekside Place by ripping off the doors and stole a large number of tools, including a scroll saw on stand, a new scroll saw, band saw, 48" Craftsman table saw, compressor with attachment, wheeled bar chair, two Mastercraft socket sets, a Husqvarna chainsaw and a pneumatic wrench.

Between Aug. 22 and 23, a thief stole a boat from Gibsons Marina, and abandoned it by the public access at Headlands Road, where the owner recovered it. However, the 15-HP Mariner outboard motor that had been attached to it is still missing. Sometime between Aug. 22 and 25, a thief broke into a residence in the 4800 block of Laurel Avenue. It appears the thief gained entry through a bathroom window. The thief stole a large flat screen TV, a Playstation 3, numerous games, a Toshiba laptop, four leather jackets, a pair of leather pants, and a large number of coins and jewellery. A weedeater and chainsaw were stolen from the property as well.

On Aug. 25, a witness reported a possible impaired driver on a ferry to Langdale and provided the licence plate number, vehicle description and driver and passenger descriptions. The vehicle, which had expired insurance, was stopped shortly after disembarking the ferry. Police discovered a stolen valtag on the expired plate and arrested the driver for possession of stolen property and issued him a violation ticket for driving with no insurance.

A police officer witnessed a vehicle travelling southbound on Reed Road near North Road at more than 25 km over the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated and the officer observed an intoxicated male in the driver's seat. The driver stated he'd had his last drink about an hour prior to being pulled over. The male failed several times to provide a proper breath sample for a roadside alcohol screen test, so was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, a violation ticket for speeding, and had his vehicle impounded for 30 days.

On Aug. 25, police responded to an alarm at a residence in the 5800 block of Highway 101 and discovered a confirmed break and enter. The suspect used driftwood to smash a window to gain entry and in the process, injured his hand. The intoxicated male suspect was located shortly afterwards when he returned to the property to retrieve his shoes. He was arrested for break and enter, and after being treated for his injuries, was lodged in cells until sober.

On Aug. 26, a teen or small adult bike was found near Julmar Road and Baillie Road. The bike is in very good condition. The owner may claim with a detailed description, reference file 11-6060.

On Aug. 26, police responded to a report of a group of youth running around Lower Gibsons with what appeared to be firearms. Police located the group who had four various air rifles and one of the youth advised he and his friends were making a movie. The youth's father was called to come collect the air rifles. The youth, who were warned about the consequences of walking around in public with imitation firearms, were apologetic and advised this would not happen again.

A possible impaired driver was reported heading eastbound on Highway 101 from Oldershaw Road. The vehicle was witnessed swerving within the lane and its driver had run a yellow light as it approached Gibsons. Police located the driver who admitted to being very lost and unsure of the roads. The driver had not consumed any alcohol.

On Aug. 28, police attended a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way for a mischief report. Witnesses advised two young males were seen walking by the business and one of the males threw a rock through a window. The suspects were both wearing plaid and one of the males may have been carrying a backpack. The suspects did not enter the business. Police are reviewing video footage to identify the suspects.

Between Aug. 27 and 28, a thief stole a 3500 watt Honda generator from a carport in the 4500 block of Hupit Street.
