Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for the week of April 13 to 20: A two-vehicle accident occurred near Trail Avenue and Ebbtide Street after a left-turning vehicle made a sudden stop.

A two-vehicle accident occurred near Trail Avenue and Ebbtide Street after a left-turning vehicle made a sudden stop. A second vehicle managed to brake to avoid a collision, but the third vehicle was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle sustained some minor injuries and damage to her vehicle. The third vehicle incurred moderate damage, but the driver was uninjured.

A shoplifter was caught by staff at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way. The suspect was cooperative and due to her age and lack of criminal history, the matter is being referred to Restorative Justice program.

On April 15, a thief cut a lock off a shed door in the 5600 block of Cook Place and stole 49 GT Baha dirt bike, yellow and orange in colour. Anyone with any information is asked to contact RCMP, at 604-885-2266, reference file 10-2582.

On April 16, a thief stole a 12-foot Smoker Craft aluminum row boat from an address in the 4800 block of Whitaker Road. The rowboat has stainless steel rings.

Two reports came in about a vehicle stuck in the ditch in the area near Clark and Gower Point roads in Gibsons. The attending police officer determined the registered owner to be extremely intoxicated and issued him a 24-hour diving suspension, seized his driver's licence and had the vehicle towed.

Sometime overnight between April 16 and 17, a thief rifled through two unlocked vehicles parked in the 100 block of Grandview Heights and stole a Garmin GPS unit and a small amount of change.

A shoplifter was caught at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way. The suspect concealed an item in his clothing and went through the checkout to pay for other items. He was detained without incident and admitted to taking the item. The business has banned the suspect from the business for a year.

On April 17, a shoplifter was witnessed leaving a business in the 5500 block of Highway 101 with several items hidden on her person. The suspect left the parking lot in vehicle and a witness was able to take down the licence plate. The file is still under investigation.

A report of possible mischief in the 5000 block of Davis Bay Road came in after someone heard voices and witnessed several youth with golf clubs running around the property. The youth fled when police arrived, but police tracked them down in a nearby home. The police did not find any damage had occurred at the property, but instructed the youth to pick up the garbage they had left behind.

A thief stole a pack sack containing a variety of personal items and documents, as well as a new Apple laptop computer from a vehicle parked in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street sometime on April 18. As there was no sign of forced entry, it is presumed the vehicle was left unlocked.

Between April 17 and 18, thieves stole a number of bales of Mix 4 Sunshine compost mix from a business in the 600 block of Pratt Road. It appears the thieves gained entry by cutting through a chain link fence. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact police, reference file 10-2654.

A witness called in a possible break and enter after seeing a male climbing through a window of a building in the 800 block of Gibsons Way. Police attended and located the suspect, who gave a satisfactory explanation he'd locked his keys in the building and had to climb through the window to gain access.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing Lower Road near Cheryl Ann Park Road. Witnesses advised the pedestrian had gotten off a bus and had walked into traffic without looking both ways. The pedestrian was taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment of a possible broken arm and concussion.
