Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for July 27 to 30:

For the last few weeks, several garbage bins belonging to businesses in the 12800 block of Madeira Park have been damaged and/or rifled through. The suspect has even cut through locks put on by business owners, or pried the hinges of the bins themselves. It is unknown what the suspect is searching for.

A report of a possibly impaired driver came in from the 5600 block of Highway 101 after the driver was witnessed using drug paraphernalia while in his vehicle, then drive away. The vehicle was stopped a short distance away by police and the driver admitted to using drugs. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving suspension and his vehicle was towed.

On July 27, a report of a suspicious male came in after themaleattended a house in the700 block of O'Shea Road and asked a number of personalquestions abouttheelderly resident'shome. The resident's son asked themale, who claimed to be working for a security company,for identification, but the male was unable to produce any. The maleleft the scene in a small vehicle before a licence plate or any other information could be obtained. Themale is described as late-20's,Caucasian, six feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a short sleeve black shirt and white shorts.Patrols for the male were negative.Police remind everyone to be very careful about what kind of information they give out to unwanted solicitors.

Sometime overnighton July 27 and 28 suspect(s) broke into two vehicles parked in the 1500 block of Park Avenue. The owners found one vehicle, which had been unlocked, with a door wide open and a second vehicle had some damage where the suspect(s) had tried to pry open the door.However, nothing appears to have been stolen.

A single-vehicle accidentwas reportedin the 15400 block of Highway 101 after a vehicle lost control, went into a ditch anddown the embankment.The attending police officer noted the odour of alcohol on the uninjureddriver and issued a roadside alcohol-screening test, which resulted in a 24-hour driving prohibition,a violation ticket for driving contrary to restrictions and the vehicle being towed.

A possible impaired driver was reported in the 300 block of Headlands Road after the suspect driver backed into another vehicle in a parking lot and continued to drive in reverse. Witnesses managed to detain the driver until police arrived.The driver, who did not have a valid driver's licence,was determined to beintoxicated byalcohol andwas arrested for impaired driving. His vehicle was towed.

A possible fraud attempt occurred on July 29, when a resident in the 2600 block of Robinson Road received a suspicious call from a male purporting to be from a local restaurant. The male told the resident that he needed to pay for an order of food that the resident had not made. The male was very insistent and asked the resident for his credit card number. The resident did not give out any information to the male and ended the conversation. The resident then called the actual restaurant and confirmedthat no staff there had placed a call to his house.

Overnight July 28 and 29 vandals dumped powder on the inside andover the exteriorofa vehicle parked in the 400 block of South Fletcher. The vehicle's windows had been left open. A second vehicle down the street also had the same powder dumped on the exterior. It was determined that the powder was likely from a fire extinguisher.

A possible impaired driver was reported by witnesses who had seen the suspect driver consuming alcohol in the Hotel Lake area, then get into his vehicle and drive away.A police officer located the suspect on Highway 101 near Redrooffs and conducted a traffic stop. The driver admitted to having consumed alcohol. He was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and the vehicle was towed.
