On Sept. 13, police attended a break and enter at a business in the 600 block of Gibsons Way. The suspect(s) gained entry through a ground floor window. A large computer monitor and modem, and possibly a laptop were among the items stolen. Officers located the modem, as well as a bag a short distance away from the business.

Two yellow bear-proof garbage cans were stolen from a residence in the 1300 block of Velvet Road in the last six weeks. The distinctive garbage cans were loosely secured to a building by a chain, which was sloughed off by the suspected culprit.

On Sept. 14, a shoplifter was caught at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way after a staff member witnessed the male taking food items off the shelf and consuming them in the aisle. The male, who was intoxicated, was arrested by police for being drunk in public and taken to cells to sober up.

The business has banned the male from the premises.

Overnight on Sept. 15, a thief stole two large spools of cable off a vehicle parked in the 8000 block of Eastwood Road. A fuel cap was also taken. No damage to the vehicle was reported.

Overnight on Sept. 14, a thief broke into a business in the 200 block of Gower Point Road by breaking a window. The thief grabbed a laptop computer and a large assortment of sterling silver earrings, bracelets, chains and pendants, many with semi-precious stones.

On Sept. 17, a thief broke into a building in the 700 block of Henry Road and stole the contents of an honour cash box. A witness confronted a suspicious male who was near the building and the male denied having anything to do with the theft, then grabbed a large bundle of flowers and fled the scene without paying for them.

A second witness noted the licence plate of the vehicle and the suspect was located and arrested for theft under $5,000.

On Sept. 17, a thief stole an employee's purse from a business in the 1000 block of Venture Way. The purse contained a bus pass, identification and some cash.

Two days later, the victim's wallet was turned in after being found on Gower Point Road. The cash was missing, but the identification was still intact.

A unlicenced driver was caught after an officer conducted a traffic stop to issue a speed warning and the driver admitted he did not have a driver's licence. The driver, who was driving on behalf of the registered owner who was not feeling well, was issued an unlicenced driver prohibition as well as a violation ticket for driving without a valid licence. The vehicle was impounded for seven days.
