Weekly police report

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Jan. 4 to 11: Early on Jan. 4, a thief broke into a business in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street. Entry was gained through a small rear window after the thief pried off the security bars.

Early on Jan. 4, a thief broke into a business in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street. Entry was gained through a small rear window after the thief pried off the security bars. The thief stole a small amount of cash, but did not take any other items.

Sometime between Dec. 20 and Jan. 1, a thief broke into a building in the 7700 block of Fawn Road by prying off a lock. The thief made off with a red Titleist golf bag containing Nickent clubs, Cleveland wedges and an Odyssey putter. The thief also stole a Craftsman 3/8" drill.

On Jan. 6, a shoplifter was caught on surveillance video at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way. The female suspect, described as a white female with long dark straight hair, approximately 5'8" tall, 170 pounds, aged 25 to 35, was wearing dark loose clothing. She stole two shirts from the business by hiding them in her clothing.

Sometime between Jan. 5 and 6, a thief attempted to break into a building in the 5800 block of Barnacle Street by prying doors and smashing a small window. However, the thief did not gain entry so nothing was stolen.

On Jan. 6, a thief broke into a locker at a business in the 5500 block of Shorncliffe Avenue and stole a client's wallet and keys. The thief pried open the locked door to gain entry. Staff at the business are reviewing surveillance footage.

Sometime overnight on Jan. 6, a thief broke into and rifled through two unlocked vehicles parked in the 1000 block of Chaster Road. Some change and two Leatherman-like tools were stolen.

Sometime overnight on Jan. 8, a thief stole an outboard motor off a boat parked in the 7000 block of Dale Road. The motor is a grey and blue, 15-horsepower Yamaha 2-stroke motor with 9.9 cowling. The thief used bolt cutters to remove a cable lock that had been securing the motor to the boat.

On Jan. 9, vandal(s) broke into a trailer in the 1700 block of Gibb Road by kicking the door in. The vandal(s) ransacked the interior, and stole a safe containing some personal identification. No other items have been reported missing to date.

An impaired driver was caught in the 5700 block of Teredo Street after one officer noticed the driver smelled of alcohol. A second officer stopped the suspect driver in a vehicle a short distance away and she admitted to consuming a large amount of alcohol the previous evening. The driver was given and failed two separate roadside alcohol-screening tests. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and her vehicle was impounded.
