Sometime overnight on July 12 and 13, vandals hit the public washrooms located near Sinku Drive and Wharf Road. The vandals damaged the soap, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers in both the men's and women's washrooms.

Sometime overnight on July 12 and 13, a vandal removed a stop sign from a corner near Mason Road and Norwest Bay Road, creating a potentially hazardous traffic situation. The District of Sechelt public works department was advised about replacing the sign as quickly as possible.

On July 13, a client accidently left her card in the ATM machine in Gibsons. Unfortunately, the next person at the ATM used the card to access her account and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. Surveillance footage is being reviewed.

A multi-vehicle incident occurred on Francis Peninsula Road near Webb Road after a trailer hitch and chain failed and a boat on the trailer came off a vehicle and veered off into the oncoming lane. The boat on trailer collided with an oncoming vehicle, causing extensive damage to the boat, trailer and vehicle. Fortunately the collision occurred at low speed, so the driver in the struck vehicle suffered only minor injuries.

Overnight on July 13 and 14, a thief broke into an unlocked building in the 300 block of Pratt Road and stole a pair of garden shears, loppers and a jug of Thrive Alive fertilizer.

Sometime overnight on July 14 and 15, vandals damaged a large planter and ripped out flowers at an address in the 6500 block of Norwest Bay Road. A couple of newspaper boxes nearby had also been tipped over. Surveillance footage is being reviewed.

Sometime overnight on July 15 and 16, a thief broke into a vehicle parked in the 4800 block Bluegrouse Road. The thief broke a rear passenger window to gain entry and stole two Reddington fly fishing rods and reels.

Sometime between July 8 and 17, thieves broke into a residence in the 7300 block of Belle Road by using a crowbar to pry open a door. A variety of items were stolen, including a Toshiba Pro laptop, a 16" chainsaw, electric pressure washer, cordless drill, circular skill saw, a cooler and alcohol.

A hit and run occurred by Davis Bay beach after a vehicle backed into another parked vehicle and damaged a bike mounted on the vehicle. The suspect vehicle driver did not stop or leave a note, but a witness was able to take down the licence plate and advise the damaged bike owner. Police will be following up with the hit and run driver.
