A police officer stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of Highway 101 after witnessing the occupant driving well below the speed limit and swerving in its lane. The lone driver and occupant displayed signs of intoxication and admitted to consuming alcohol earlier. The driver failed a roadside alcohol-screening test and was issued a 90-day driving prohibition, as well as being arrested for being intoxicated in public. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was also issued a violation ticket for failing to produce a valid driver's licence.

An erratic driver was reported on Highway 101 and Norwest Bay Road after the complainant was tailgated by a vehicle through a school zone, which then passed her illegally on a merge lane. The complainant provided police with a vehicle and driver description, licence plate number and direction of travel. Police contacted the registered owner and spoke with the driver who admitted he'd been in a hurry to get home and had, in hindsight, driven in an overly aggressive manner. The driver was warned about his driving habits.

Sometime between March 4 and 5, a vehicle drove into a cedar hedge in the 700 block of Maplewood Lane and damaged two large shrubs. The suspect vehicle did not leave anything behind other than tire tracks.

Around March 3, a thief gained entry into a residence in the 1500 block of Reed Road and stole a gold wedding ring, a silver snake-shaped ring, some loose change and lottery tickets. The resident doesn't believe the house was locked when the theft occurred.

A possible impaired driver was reported on the Langdale ferry after a witness saw the driver drinking liquor from a paper bag. Police stopped the suspect vehicle after it disembarked from the ferry in Langdale and spoke with the driver, who admitted to consuming a couple of alcoholic drinks. The driver was given a roadside alcohol-screening test that resulted in a "warn" indicator. A three-day driving prohibition was issued and the driver's licence was seized.

Sometime between Feb. 25 and March 10, a thief stole a vehicle that was parked for sale on the corner of Roberts Creek Road and Highway 101. The grey, 1988 Ford Lariat, had a BC Licence plate 4022LD and a four-inch lift and winch on the front. Anyone with any information about this file is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266, reference file 11-1473.

A 90-day driving prohibition was issued to a male driver after an on-duty officer witnessed a vehicle driving erratically in the 4900 block of Highway 101. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was observed to show signs of impairment. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol and agreed to a roadside alcohol-screen test, which he failed. The driver's licence was seized and his vehicle was impounded.

A single-vehicle accident occurred near Havies and Geer roads after a vehicle drove off the road and into a hedge. The attending police officer was advised by the driver that the brakes had failed and he had decided to drive off the road to the right to avoid losing control on Highway 101. The officer tested the brakes and confirmed they were non-functional. Neither the driver nor passenger required medical attention, but the faulty vehicle had to be towed.

On March 14, a group of unruly, possibly underage partiers was reported drinking on the beach by a bonfire in the 5800 block of Highway 101. One of the teens was witnessed urinating on private property. Police attended and located a number of youth of various ages, in possession of open alcohol. The youth were spoken to about the complaints, the alcohol was seized and disposed of and the party was dispersed.
