Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Jan. 18 to 25: A possible impaired driver was reported in the 1200 block of Fitchett Road after a witness noticed a male smelling of alcohol get into a vehicle.

A possible impaired driver was reported in the 1200 block of Fitchett Road after a witness noticed a male smelling of alcohol get into a vehicle. The driver was located a short distance away and he admitted to having consumed alcohol the night before, but none since then. A roadside alcohol-screening test was administered and while the male did not fail, he was shocked at how close he was to the legal limit.No violation ticket was issued and the male voluntarilywent homefor the rest of themorning.

On Jan. 19 a single-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 101 near Mercer Road after a northbound vehicle hit a patch of black ice and lost control, over-corrected and skidded into the ditch, rolling over several times until coming to a rest approximately 12 feet down the embankment. The male driver and lone occupant was able to exit the vehicle himself, but suffered some broken bones and bruising. The driver was taken to hospital for treatment and the heavily damaged vehicle was towed. Speed was not a factor in this incident, and no violation ticket was issued.

On Jan. 20, a motor-vehicle accident involving a pedestrian occurred at the intersection of Shaw Road and Gibsons Way.A vehicle making a left turn off Shaw Road onto GibsonsWaystruck a pedestrian crossing the intersection on Gibsons Way. Members of the Gibsons fire department treated the pedestrian before being taken to hospital.

The file is still under investigation.

An impaired driver was stopped on Highway 101 near Orange Road after an officer noticed the vehicle had no front licence plate. The driver pulled over and the officer noted there was no rear plateeither. The driver admitted to having consumed alcohol and that he had no validdriver's licence. The driverfailed a roadside alcohol screen test, was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and the vehicle wasimpounded.

Late onJan. 22, a resident in the 8500 block of Redrooffs Road was disturbed by a smashing noise and looked out to see two males running up his driveway and drive off in a diesel truck. The vandals threw a rock through a lower floor window, but no entry was gained.

Sometime between Jan. 8 and 22, a thief stole an eight-foot long aluminium boat from a property in the 5100 block of Highway 101. The boat had been chained to a tree.

Sometime between Jan. 22 and 24, a thief broke into a boat parked in the 600 block of Winn Road and stole a bag of miscellaneous hand tools. The thief smashed a glass door to gain entry. The thief left behind a number of items. The file is still under investigation.
