This Sunday, July 2, marks the fourth annual garden tour from noon to 4 p.m., a favourite fundraiser for the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society (SCBGS).

This year's theme is water in its many forms, from babbling brooks to waterfalls to fish ponds to quiet reflecting pools. Each of the eight gardens featured in the Water in the Garden Tour uses water in combination with other garden elements to make a unique atmosphere. The tour is self-guided, and the ticket consists of a listing and brief description of each garden and how to find them all.

Tickets are available at B&K Soils, Coast Books, Gibsons Florist, Quality Farm and Sunshine Coast Nursery in Gibsons; Casey's and Talewind Books in Sechelt. Tickets are $10 for members of the Botanical Garden Society, $15 for non-members. Your membership card entitles you to 10 per cent discounts on plants at most of the Coast's nurseries. For membership details, see www.coastbotanicalgarden.org.

This year's eight gardens are in Grantham's Landing, Soames Point, upper Gibsons, Bonniebrook and Davis Bay. Three are wheelchair accessible. Some are well-established, while others are works in progress. All are tended with love and insight. One is a small organic farm, another has a potter's studio, and two have been featured in gardening magazines. Expect to be inspired to use water in new ways in your own garden.
