A 23-year-old Sechelt female and 17-year-old Sechelt male were arrested and are facing several charges after an alleged assault of a bus driver.
On May 18, Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to a report of the alleged assault of a 67-year-old Sunshine Coast Transit bus driver in Sechelt.
According to Cpl. Steve Chubey, a 17-year-old male and a 23-year-old female, along with a small group were kicked off of the bus after the bus driver observed one of them drinking beer on the bus.
"Witnesses observed the 17-year-old youth and another male swearing at the driver as they exited," said Chubey in a news release. "The youth then spit on the driver. The driver exited the bus to inform the group that they were banned from the bus, when the driver was struck in the side of his head with a can of beer. Witnesses stated the 23-year-old female hit the driver with the can. The driver was dazed after the incident, however he was uninjured."
Chubey said RCMP arrested the male youth and the female that evening. Both were released from custody with charges pending of assault and assault with a weapon. The name of the youth cannot be released due to his age and the name of the adult female has not been released pending charge approval.
