Three arrested in pot bust

On Sept. 28, RCMP obtained grounds for a search warrant for a home on Timberline Road in Egmont and arrested two men and one female.According to Const. Andy Cook, the warrant was obtained after a general duty officer attended to serve a document on one of the residents and noted signs of marijuana grow operation.The RCMP Street Crew and general duty members attended and arrested a 21-year-old male, a 23-year-old male and a 44-year-old female."Police located a large marijuana grow operation with more than 1,500 marijuana plants in two large grow rooms in the basement of the residence and outside in the yard, as well as a small weed oil operation," Cook said.The three suspects were released and will appear in provincial court on Dec. 6.Cocaine seizedOn Sept. 30, RCMP arrested two adult males and one adult female in relation to trafficking crack cocaine.The arrest was made on Frances Peninsula Road in Madeira Park after police witnessed a drug transaction between two males. A search of the suspect car revealed approximately 24 grams of crack cocaine and cocaine as well as a significant amount of cash, said Const. Bryson Hill."Further investigation led police to write a search warrant for a house located on Redrooffs Road that belonged to two of the suspects," Hill said. "The search warrant was issued and executed, revealing a mid-scale drug trafficking operation."Hill said police seized large quantities of crack cocaine, pure cocaine, MDMA (ecstasy) and crystal meth. Police also seized three marijuana plants growing in the backyard of the house and a fully automatic machine gun with a loaded 40-round magazine and additional ammunition.The total value of the drugs seized from the home is approximately $10,000, Hill said.
