Work on the Telus Marina project at Porpoise Bay is now expected to be completed in late 2025.

Sechelt council approved a development permit for the Telus Marina project at its March 1, 2023 council meeting and initially, Telus announced the project could be completed as early as late 2024.

Once complete, the development at 5981 Sechelt Inlet Rd., will include at least one new restaurant, rooftop patio, four suites for vacation rental, a new multi-purpose hall for community use, marine shop and boat slips. Previously, the site was used as a marina and a metal fabrication facility, and was also home to a single detached residence. The small house and former industrial metal building have since been demolished.

“As part of our $150 million investment commitment to the Sunshine Coast, TELUS is excited to bring a restaurant, community space and marina services to East Porpoise Bay,” Telus spokesperson Richard Gilhooley told Coast Reporter in an email this week. “Construction began in early 2024 and work is expected to be completed in late 2025. In the meantime, TELUS is continuing to work with all relevant stakeholders to move the project forward and provide a space that will be enjoyed in Sechelt for years to come.”

This week, Sechelt council confirmed the excavation and foundation portion of the building permit for Telus Marina has been approved as is allowed under the bylaw.

“The entire building permit has been ready to issue for approximately a month and we look forward to issuing it as soon as all required documentation is received from the applicant,” Sechelt council said in an email.
