A Gibsons man has been charged with several offences in connection to a break-in at a Coast retail outlet.

Jesse Thomas White made his second appearance in Sechelt provincial court, a bail hearing this week. He was released on a $7,500 bond with numerous conditions including to reside in a treatment centre in Langley, according to Crown counsel Trevor Cockfield.

White has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon (a gun), possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and storing a hand gun in a careless manner. White is due back in court on Jan. 26.

Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to an audible alarm at the Sears retail store in Gibsons on Jan. 2 at 3:46 a.m.

"Upon attendance, the store owner and police discovered the front window smashed and the security bars pushed inwards," said Sgt. Stuart Falebrinza. "An internal inventory determined 16 flatscreen TVs, five Blu Ray DVD players and two upright vacuum cleaners has been stolen."

Falebrinza said follow-up investigations by their serious crime unit and the traffic section resulted in the execution of two search warrants on a vehicle and a Chaster Road home.

"As a result of these search warrants, 10 of the TVs have been recovered, some Blu Ray players and one vacuum. During the search of the residence, a hand gun was located and seized.

"This is still a very active investigation. Any-one with information relating to this break and enter or on the location of any of the as yet unrecovered electronics is asked to contact Const. Spencer Mylymok at 604-885-2266."
