Sunshine Coast Tourism announces first-ever Flavour Festival

Sip, savour and celebrate all things food and drink from Gibsons to Lund, between Feb. 28 to March 9.

Sunshine Coast Tourism hopes a new food festival will become an annual event, gaining the attention of foodies from near and far.

With more than 50 participating restaurants, cafés, bakeries, food trucks, tasting rooms and specialty food shops participating, guests can discover hidden gems, indulge in fresh, local flavours, and experience the welcoming hospitality that defines the Coast.

The Sunshine Coast Flavour Festival is a 10-day celebration stretching from Gibsons to Lund, designed to shine a spotlight on the artistry of local chefs, bakers, brewers and food producers, whose creativity reflects the region’s renowned arts and culture scene.

Running from Feb. 28 to March 9, the festival invites residents and visitors to experience the charm of the Sunshine Coast’s evolving food scene through prix-fixe menus, special offers and unique culinary events set against the cozy and atmospheric backdrop of the West Coast.

“The Sunshine Coast Flavour Festival is a celebration of the Sunshine Coast as a culinary destination,” Annie Wise, executive director of Sunshine Coast Tourism, said in a press release. “From restaurants to tasting rooms, the local scene is fresh, creative and rooted in unique people and stories. It’s a chance for locals and visitors to sip and savour their way through the Coast, while supporting the incredible businesses that make our communities so vibrant. The Sunshine Coast is ready to be recognized as a must-visit foodie destination.”

Christine Hollmann, president of Sunshine Coast Tourism, notes the timing of the festival was deliberate, to celebrate the shift from winter to spring and explore the flavours of the region.

“Come celebrate the warmth and coastal charm that define our communities and connect with the incredible food and drink crafted here. From fresh ingredients to welcoming experiences, the festival showcases what makes the Sunshine Coast so special,” Hollmann said in the release.

Mark your calendars and prepare to sip, savour and celebrate. From inventive dishes to beloved local favourites, the Sunshine Coast Flavour Festival offers something for every palate.
