A sunny day on the water in Trail Bay turned into make-shift training grounds near Sechelt on July 19. 

As waterfront walkers looked on, three Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) vessels laid out a long yellow boom from the public wharf past Snickett Park. WCMRC is Transport Canada's certified marine spill response organization, but no spill was in sight. 

Alex Thompson, communications coordinator with WCMRC, confirmed to Coast Reporter that what people were seeing from the shore was "geographic response strategies," also known as training.
