SIB to elect chief and council

Members of the Sechelt Indian Band (SIB) will soon be casting their ballots. The band membership will vote on Feb. 26 for one chief and four councillors.

Members of the Sechelt Indian Band (SIB) will soon be casting their ballots.

The band membership will vote on Feb. 26 for one chief and four councillors. Current chief Garry Feschuk was nominated for the position again, along with hopefuls Randy Joe and Warren Paull.

There were 10 nominations for council including Jessie August, Kevin August, Rochelle Baptiste, Stewart Craigan, Joyce Joe, Robert Joe, Willard Johnson, Keith Julius, Jordan Louie and Rodney Paul, who will run for the four open council seats.

An advance polling opportunity will be held on Feb. 20 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Elder's boardroom of the SIB health and social development building.

The remainder of votes will be cast on Feb. 26 between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the same building.
