Sechelt's administrative head is on a leave without an end date.
Chief administrative officer (CAO) Andrew Yeates began voluntary leave from the District of Sechelt on Aug. 26, according to district communications manager Lindsay Vickers. The district does not have a date for Yeates' return.
The acting CAO role is rotating through the senior management team in two-week intervals: director of planning and development Andrew Allen, director of corporate and community services Lindsay Roberts and director of finance David Douglas. The director of engineering position is vacant since Kirn Dhillon's departure for the CAO role on Bowen Island.
Yeates has led Sechelt's civil force since spring 2017. Yeates' leave comes amid internal turmoil for the district with an audit revealing tensions between the district's senior management, including CAO, and the mayor. No reason for Yeates' leave was shared with Coast Reporter.
"We wish CAO Yeates the best during his leave," Vickers shared as a statement from Sechelt.
