In the last few months of 2023, the Sunshine Coast RCMP detachment responded to 463 calls in the regional district, outside of the 1,181 calls in Sechelt and 490 in Gibsons.
Staff Sgt. Jennifer Prunty presented the latest statistics in closed meetings earlier this month, and provided the report to Coast Reporter.
In quarter four, there were 85 calls for service in Madeira Park with 12 priority one calls and eight charges laid. Pender Harbour had 12 calls for service, with three priority one calls and two charges laid. There were 17 calls for service from Egmont, 14 abandoned or false calls, one priority one call, and a total of three charges laid. Garden Bay saw a total of 61 calls and 13 charges laid, with eight priority calls. Ruby Lake had two calls for service, and no charges were laid.
Halfmoon Bay had a total 105 calls for service, 11 marked as priority one calls, and a total of 17 charges laid. Four calls were false or abandoned calls.
Roberts Creek saw 125 calls for service in Q4, with 15 priority one calls and 18 charges laid. There were 16 false or abandoned calls.
Langdale saw 32 calls for service with three priority one calls, and two charges laid. Port Mellon had 12 calls for service and one charge laid. Soames Point saw one call for service.
On Gambier Island, there were five calls for service, seven abandoned or false calls, one priority one call and no charges laid. Keats Island had two calls for service and no charges laid.
Hopkins Landing and Jervis Inlet had no calls for service and no charges laid, while Irvings Landing had three calls for service, with one priority call. Nelson Island had one call for service and no charges laid.
