Route 3 will run on a modified schedule Tuesday, Nov. 8, as the Queen of Surrey is facing mechanical issues.
Due to an issue with the ship's main engine, three Route 3 sailings were cancelled: the 8:40 a.m. departing Langdale, 9:45 a.m. departing Horseshoe Bay and 10:50 a.m. departing Langdale.
The Queen of Oak Bay is expected to take over servicing the route as of the 11:55 a.m. sailing from Horseshoe Bay, said a BC Ferries news release at 11 a.m. The modified schedule is:
- 11:55 a.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 1:05 p.m. departing Langdale
- 2:10 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 3:15 p.m. departing Langdale
- 4:20 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 5:25 p.m. departing Langdale
- 6:35 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 7:40 p.m. departing Langdale
- 8:45 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 9:50 p.m. departing Langdale
- 10:55 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
The release notes that the 10:55 p.m. sailing is at risk of cancellation as BC Ferries may need to reposition the vessel.
"We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of this sailing delay," said the notice.
Passengers with reservations are being moved to the Queen of Oak Bay and customers are being updated, said BC Ferries manager of Corporate Communications Astrid Chang. For those on the cancelled sailings, the Customer Service centre will contact customers and let them know if there's space available on an alternate sailing or if their booking must be cancelled. In case of cancellations, feeds and fares will be refunded, said Chang.
This is the second day in a row the Langdale-Horseshoe Bay route has faced disruption. Monday the schedule was modified because of cancelled Queen of Cowichan sailings.
