Sunshine Coast RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in locating a suspect believed responsible for a robbery at Panago Pizza in Gibsons last weekend.

Just after 9 p.m. on March 19, a suspect entered the restaurant brandishing an axe and told the employee to give him all the money. The suspect was able to flee the scene on foot with cash from the till.

"The suspect was carrying a weapon that was described as an axe that had the blade broken off," said Const. Bryson Hill. "The head of the axe was covered in a white padding material and had clear tape wrapped around it. The axe was held to the suspect's right wrist by a straw rope."

The suspect was described to police as Caucasian, 5'6" to 5'7" tall, with a heavy, chubby build, big shoulders and a big tummy. He was in his 30s to 40s, with a deep voice, no accent and small hands. He was wearing a black puffy jacket with no collar, black tight legged denim pants that appeared to be worn, scuffed white shoes, a grey toque that was pulled over his face with only the eyes cut out and grey, tight fitting cotton gloves.
