Gibsons Curling Club's inaugural Jared Wannamaker Memorial Open Bonspiel last weekend saw 24 teams play three draws, according to the club's Facebook page.
The event was to honour late club member and lifelong curler, Jared Wannamaker, who died suddenly in 2021.
The opening ceremony included a tribute to the late Gibsons community member – his family along with the curlers were piped onto the ice. Jared's wife, Colleen, and mother, Juanita, paid the piper with a whiskey shot and Jared's father, Ken, threw the first stone.
According to the club's Facebook page, Team Meyer won the bonspiel. Team Clegg won B division and Team Pagani won C division.
