As the bears come out of hibernation on the Sunshine Coast, a new WildSafeBC community coordinator is here to help prevent and reduce conflict between wildlife and humans.
Russell Dunsford took on the position earlier this spring, and will be reaching out to community members until the end of November, a May 27 release said.
Dunsford will take on door-to-door education campaigns, garbage tagging and delivering the WildSafe Ranger Program and Wildlife Safety and Awareness training.
Meanwhile, WildSafeBC Sunshine Coast will continue regularly sharing information, training webinars and wildlife updates on their social media pages and website, www.wildsafebc.com.
In a social media post introducing himself to the community, Dunsford said he grew up on the Sunshine Coast and is happy to return and share his passion for wildlife, the outdoors and safety.
Dunsford can be contacted at [email protected] or 604-885-6800 ext 6476 for more information and how to register for free WildSafe programs.
