Pender Harbour and Egmont’s Official Community Plan (OCP) is now official, following the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) directors’ unanimous vote to adopt the OCP bylaw at the Oct. 25 board meeting.
Area A director Frank Mauro kept his comments brief, echoing statements he made earlier about the lengthy process, before thanking staff and the committee “for all their work to formulate this plan.”
The OCP, which replaces one adopted in 1998, was amended before adoption to address concerns raised at a spirited public hearing that included the submission of a petition to change Part Four, which contains a reference and summary of the shíshálh Nation Strategic Land Use Plan as well as We Envision: Regional Sustainability Plan and Climate Action Plan. The summaries of those plans were removed and replaced with brief policy statements that outline their relationship to the OCP.
“The SCRD has listened to the community,” said Mauro before directors adopted the bylaw. The OCP applies to all areas from Middelpoint to Egmont.
