Commuters best keep an eye on ferry service notices Monday. BC Ferries is warning of schedule changes the evening of Feb. 13 because of "forecasted adverse weather conditions."
The Queen of Surrey's revised schedule for Monday evening is:
- 6:30 p.m. leaving Horseshoe Bay
- 7:30 p.m. leaving Langdale
- 8:40 p.m. leaving Horseshoe Bay
- 7:30 p.m. leaving Langdale
- 10:55 p.m. leaving Horseshoe Bay
The last sailing from Earls Cove to the upper Sunshine Coast will leave at 11 p.m., said the notice.
"Our Customer Service Centre will contact customers with bookings on these revised sailings to advise them of their updated departure time," said the service notice.
Several sailings on the Nanaimo-Horseshoe Bay route are at risk of cancellation because of the weather. These include:
- 5:55 p.m. departing Departure Bay
- 6:35 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
- 8:45 p.m. departing Departure Bay
- 10:50 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay
Though previously at risk of cancellation, the 3:20 p.m. departing Departure Bay and 3:45 p.m. departing Horseshoe Bay are expected to sail as scheduled.
An Environment Canada special weather statement is in effect for the Sunshine Coast, cautioning of "strong winds that may cause damage" and northwest winds at 50 gusting to 70 km/hr. The winds are forecasted for this afternoon into the evening, easing at night.
