A 24-year-old man is dead following a cliff jump that went horribly wrong at Ruby Lake.
On Monday night, Sunshine Coast RCMP were called to Ruby Lake in response to a report of a man who was missing and presumed drowned after jumping off a 40-foot cliff into the water.
"It appears the male was injured after hitting the water," said Sgt. Stuart Falebrinza. "Attempts were made at the time of the incident to locate the individual, but were unsuccessful."
The RCMP dive team arrived on scene on Tuesday and was able to locate and recover the body. The man has been identified as Christopher Frederick MacLean. MacLean was originally from Orilla, Ont. and arrived on the Coast in April 2007 for employment.
