Local guild quilts for charity

Quilts of every kind - from exuberant to serene, from whimsical kid themes to delicate florals - came together like magic on the March 15 weekend.

Quilts of every kind - from exuberant to serene, from whimsical kid themes to delicate florals - came together like magic on the March 15 weekend. Members of the Sunshine Coast Quilters' Guild held their biennial charity quilt bee and made approximately 85 quilts of various sizes, from crib- to queen-sized. When finished, they will go to local agencies to be donated to or used by their clients. The agencies include the Sechelt and Gibsons branches of the Ministry of Children and Families, Thyme's Second Stage, the Salvation Army Emergency Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, Christenson Village and Shorncliffe. The Guild would like to thank the many members who dug deep into their stashes and donated fabric, their time and enthusiasm, as well as the local merchants and sponsors who supported the event through donations and discounts on purchases.
