Library presents triple bill

A local author tripleheader at the Gibsons and District Public Library on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m.

A local author tripleheader at the Gibsons and District Public Library on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. will feature Al MacLachlan reading from his first novel, After the Funeral, Jim Christy reading from his latest novel The Redemption of Anna Dupree and Peter Trower introducing the pair and reading from his collection of poetry.

Longtime Gibsons' resident MacLachlan's debut novel is set in Vancouver and features a central character with amnesia, haunted by eerie flashbacks and hunted by some suitably vicious bad guys. The book was favourably reviewed by Margaret Cannon in the Crime Books section of the Globe and Mail in mid-August. Cannon hailed the novel for its "good creepy plot" and "fine sense of place" and MacLachlan as a "writer to watch." Christy's latest novel marks a departure from his gritty street writing to tell the story of a feisty aging actress who flees her Okanagan retirement home with Colin, a much younger employee of the facility. The "road story" trip to Mexico is a tale of unlikely friendship and emotional renewal.

Seating is limited for this exciting literary event, so early registration is recommended. Call the library at 604-886-2130 or drop by in person.
