The Sechelt Public Library is hosting a bedtime story time with award winning children's writer Sheryl McFarlane on Friday, April 23.
The event is open for children ages 3 to 9 and begins at 7 p.m.
Parents and other adults interested in children's books are also invited to attend. Just as at any bedtime, children can wear pajamas and bring their teddy bears. This is a free program, but patrons are asked to pre-register, as space is limited.
McFarlane is a B.C. writer for children who lives on Vancouver Island.
She's written 10 books, including the Governor General Literacy Award winning for Waiting for Whales. Her books are fun for all ages and often deal with life on the West Coast - whales, eagles and the seaside.
Her visit to the Coast is a collaboration between the Sunshine Coast School of writing and the library.
On Saturday, April 24, McFarlane will conduct a one-day workshop on writing books for children called A Kick at the Can.
For information on the workshop call 604-886-8951. To register for the story time call the library at 604-885-3260. Both programs are made possible with financial assistance from the Canada Council for the Arts through the Writers' Union of Canada.
