The last round trip between the Sunshine Coast and Horseshoe Bay will be cancelled on Wednesday, Oct. 4 as the Queen of Surrey requires a cylinder head replacement.
Cancelled are the 10:30 p.m. from Langdale and the 11:30 p.m. from Horseshoe Bay.
"This is not ideal, however, the engineers feel this is a required repair ahead of the long weekend," BC Ferries executive director of public affairs Deborah Marshall said in an email to Coast Reporter. She said that the repair takes time beyond what is available to engineers on the graveyard shift. "The cancellation of the last round trip tomorrow will preserve the first round trip of the day on Thursday, which we know will be busy."
Those with reservations on cancelled sailings will be moved to an earlier sailing and will be contacted by customer care, said Marshall. There will be a complementary water taxi and reimbursement for parking as required.
