Alongside Gibsons Public Art Gallery's (GPAG) current Animals! Animals! exhibition of Sunshine Coast artists' paintings, photography, clay and carving is a series of lively painting classes for five to 10-year-olds. The class is taught by Elphinstone Secondary School student Claire Fernley. Claire has a significant portfolio of her own art, which she says was encouraged at an early age.
"Children are naturally creative," says Claire. "I can give these kids the same encouragement. It's fun."
Join Claire and her class of emerging artists for the Kidzart exhibition and reception on Saturday, Nov. 26, from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Children's and adult arts education programmes at the public art gallery are made possible through gallery memberships and the generous donations of the community.
