Volunteer

Sunshine Coast RCMP recognized Jon Hird for his volunteering efforts over the past decade with a 10-year appreciation pin, certificate and plaque.

Sgt. Michael Hacker praised Hird for his consistency sending in monthly Speed Watch reports, his diligence with maintenance of signage and equipment, his presence at SCRD meetings, and his introduction of a radar gun that can clock baseball pitches, which has been a big hit at the RCMP’s community appreciation barbecues. Hird is also known for cleaning graffiti in Gibsons and other good deeds.

The recognition was made at a volunteer appreciation lunch on April 12. Other volunteers received five-year pins and certificates.
