Idol dreams dashed for Loverock

Tuesday night marked the end of Sarah Loverock's journey with Canadian Idol. The Gibsons woman was the second singer to be eliminated from the top 10.

"I was surprised. I felt I had at least a few more weeks left in me. I felt I deserved another few weeks," Loverock told Coast Reporter from Toronto Wednesday morning.

However, she had a bad feeling about the results show from the time she woke up that day.

"I don't know exactly why, but all day I just felt awful. I did feel I gave a good performance, but my intuition knew," she said.

The results show was an emotional one for Loverock, who said she felt a lot of love from the audience and other competitors after the vote was announced.

"During the commercial break, there were a bunch of people screaming in the audience, 'Sarah we love you,' and there were a lot of people there who didn't want to see me go. That was really nice," she said.

But it was a comment from one of the CTV staff members that brought Loverock to tears.

"He gave me a hug and said I was the only person he had voted for since day one. It was emotional for me to realize I touched someone in such a way," Loverock said.

Once she was told she would be going home, the other competitors and audience members gave her a standing ovation, and host Ben Mulroney offered some words of encouragement for her.

"I want to say that people should remember you've been part of Canadian Idol since last year's top 100," Mulroney said. "You had the courage to come back and show the judges that you belong in the top 22 and you belong in the top 10. I just think we are so lucky to have enjoyed a singer as talented and as sophisticated and as passionate as you are. Thank you very much."

Loverock vowed Canada had not seen the last of her and gave another fabulous performance to close out the show. After the cameras stopped rolling and the lights dimmed, Loverock didn't want to go back alone to the Idol mansion (where she had been living for two weeks).

"Tyler Lewis [one of the other competitors] invited me to dinner with him and his family and that was really nice," she said, noting none of her family or friends were in the audience that night.

By 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Loverock was doing interviews with the likes of E-Talk Daily and CTV, and by Thursday afternoon she was scheduled to arrive home to the welcoming arms of her family and friends.

"That is something I am so looking forward to. It will be so nice to hug my kids and kiss my husband," she said.

She plans to continue her singing career and hopes Canadian Idol gave her the exposure she needed to sign a recording contract.

"I'm going to find my connection. Hopefully I struck a chord with somebody. I'm not going to let the moment die. I plan to run with something as soon as possible and I hope to have something to release by the New Year," she said, promising to keep Coast Reporter in the loop as her career progresses.
