The Sechelt Hospital has seen an increase in patients due to limited medical resources.

Planning has been under way for more than a year for the vision of future health services at Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital –– now it’s the public’s turn to weigh in on what’s been drafted so far.

Health Vision Sechelt | shíshálh Hospital is a “high-level planning process to help ensure the hospital campus continues to meet the evolving health-care needs of the local community and Lower Sunshine Coast region,” says Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).

It includes a clinical service plan, facility assessment and site plan, which VCH says will be a “roadmap” for the future of healthcare services at the hospital.

Later this month, the public will have opportunities to hear more about the process, hear key details from the draft clinical services plan, ask questions and provide feedback.

The drop-in engagement sessions will take place:

  • June 25 at Sechelt Seniors Centre, 2:30 to 4 p.m.
  • June 26 at Pender Harbour Legion, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • June 26 at Gibsons and Area Community Centre, 4:30 to 6 p.m.
  • July 9, 6 to 7:30 p.m., there’s a virtual engagement opportunity, register at engage.vch.ca/embeds/projects/41303/survey-tools/54163.
